Homework assignments given are designed to provide your child with extra practice at a newly taught skill or in preparation of the next day's lesson. However, homework should not be a struggle for your child and shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes per night to complete. If your child is taking longer than the anticipated time, please make a note on the assignment so I can address any issues your child may be having with a given concept. Nightly homework should be written in your child’s agenda and will also be posted and sent to you on our Class Dojo each night. Please check your child's "Take-Home" folder for any homework as well as other important papers. Students are also asked to read for 20 minutes each night. It's extremely important to guide children into a consistent routine early in the school year so I recommend your implementing this into your nightly practice as soon as possible. My hope is that with consistent exposure to reading, your child will develop an appreciation and eventually a love for independent reading. Naturally, this takes time to develop but as their skills strengthen over the year, students will gain confidence and feel successful in reading with the right book!
Looking forward to a wonderful year with your child!
